Best Practice in Teaching and Learning - Focus on Large Classes 2024-05-28 Online

Purpose:
During this webinar, academics who teach large classes at NWU will share their best practice and tips for supporting and promoting student learning despite large student numbers in the classroom.
Attendees can expect experts to share their insights into the unique challenges experienced when there is an increasing diversity in learning and growth in student numbers, teaching strategies and techniques that address the challenges of large classes and best practices in response to them. This session promises to be engaging, with opportunities for lively discussion.
Outcomes:
After the webinar, attendees will have acquired knowledge on:
- basic techniques of teaching large classes for optimal learning in terms of classroom management, communication, and supporting and promoting student learning.
- different teaching strategies that can be used in large classes (e.g. cooperative learning, reflective practice, self-evaluations);
- digital tools that are suited for large classes and how to use them best; and
- best practices illustrating examples of existing practice in large classes at NWU.
