Purpose

The AI Roadshow aims to inform and empower staff by providing insights into the latest artificial intelligence (AI) developments at North-West University (NWU). 

The session will highlight key AI resources, training opportunities, and strategic initiatives while fostering an understanding of AI’s impact on teaching, learning, and research. 

Through this engagement, staff will be encouraged to integrate AI tools ethically and responsibly within their practices.

Outcomes

By the end of the session, staff will:

• Gain awareness of AI initiatives at NWU, including the AI website, AI Hub, available AI resources, and training opportunities.
• Understand the opportunities, challenges, and risks that AI presents in Higher Education (HE), along with NWU’s strategies for mitigating these challenges.
• Explore ethical and responsible AI integration in Teaching, Learning, and Research (TL&R), aligning with best practices in academic integrity.
• Learn about AI-related courses developed by CTL and the AI Hub, such as the AI Course for Academic and Career Success for students.
• Discover research opportunities on AI, including participation in TELIT-SA initiatives.
• Become familiar with the newly established Digital Academy and its role in AI literacy and professional development.
• Engage with AIITSA to support students in developing ethical and responsible AI usage skills.

This session will serve as a platform for discussion, collaboration, and professional development, ensuring that NWU’s staff are well-equipped to navigate the evolving AI landscape in HE.
