How to apply for SoTL project funding 2025-04-08 Online

The purpose of the information session is:

  • to introduce the context of Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) at NWU.

  • for you, the potential applicant, to know more about the SoTL project funding and the steps in the funding application processes.

 

At the end of the information session, you should be able to:

  • show an understanding of the basic knowledge of the SoTL context at NWU.

  • demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the requirements and conditions set out for applying for funding of a SoTL project.

  • participate and engage in discussion regarding SoTL in HE and SoTL projects at NWU.

 

Summary outline:

The SoTL workgroup from the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) will be covering the steps to applying for SoTL project funding. This session includes how to complete the proposal application template and initial budget template to apply for a UCDG grant taking into account the NWU Financial Guidelines. The SoTL workgroup will also discuss the currently funded projects which fall under the following themes of research studies: Curriculum Transformation / Renewal; Digital Assessment; and Digital Transformation (related to online, hybrid and HyFlex teaching and learning environments).

Read the SoTL Information Document 2025 and the SoTL FAQ webpage.

Limitations:

This information session is not a workshop that will be facilitated to address what is SoTL and/or Action Research (AR) in terms of research design. For SoTL-related workshops and writing retreats register via LibCal to participate. You do not need an ethics approval letter to participate in the information session.
