Workshop Description:

Today, one of the biggest challenges in online and hybrid education is the high rate of students who do not complete their programs. In this one-week asynchronous workshop, join an OLC’s Center for Professional Learning expert facilitator as you identify the most significant retention challenges for learners today and learn how research-based strategies should be employed to improve student retention, satisfaction, and success. Through collaborations with colleagues from the field, you will evaluate and create your institution-specific retention plan to improve student retention within your institutional setting.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify the most significant challenges to the retention of online and hybrid students.
  • Evaluate evidence-based best practices for student retention from other institutions.
  • Consider both micro- as well as macro-levels of retention and how these course-level as well as program-level retention strategies each fit into your comprehensive plans for student retention and success
  • Create a draft retention plan, including short- and long-term solutions for retaining online and hybrid students.
