Workshop Description:

In our fast-paced and ever-evolving world, the college experience can be both exciting and overwhelming for students in any learning environment. It’s essential that everyone from leaders, faculty, and support staff be equipped with the knowledge and tools to contribute to a higher education community that prioritizes the mental health and well-being of students, fostering an environment where each student can thrive academically and emotionally.

The unique challenge addressed in this workshop is how to authentically connect, empathize, and support the whole person in order to create nurturing and conducive learning environments. Discover strategies for fostering an inclusive and stigma-free campus culture that prioritizes mental health and well-being, including policies, procedures, and programs. Through a wealth of resources, tools, and best practices, participants will explore ways to build partnerships across campus units to create a holistic support network for students.

Learning Objectives:

• Explore the prevalence and intricacies of mental health issues and their impact on academic performance and personal development.
• Discuss the challenges, limitations, and opportunities involved in designing student mental health programs and services. 
• Identify areas for collaboration between educators, staff, administrators, and mental health professionals for addressing student mental health concerns.
• Develop a clear, comprehensive communication plan that addresses student mental health concerns.
