eFundi - Building Connection in Digital Learning 2025-09-18 Online

Purpose
To empower lecturers with a thorough understanding of online learning isolation, providing practical strategies rooted in the Community of Inquiry framework and best practices. The goal is to enhance the online learning experience, fostering community, engagement, and empathy to combat isolation challenges in the virtual classroom.
Outcomes
- Define isolation and online social presence within digital learning environments;
- Explain the Community of Inquiry (CoI) framework and its relevance to promoting engagement and reducing isolation;
- Apply best practices and empathetic teaching strategies to foster connection and reduce learner disconnection in online classrooms;
- Demonstrate the effective use of eFundi tools to build and sustain online social presence and community; and
- Design inclusive and engaging online learning experiences that enhance student interaction through social presence principles.
