WHY SHOULDN'T I MISS THIS!

An effective online pedagogy is one that accentuates a student-centered learning approach. Learning to teach online is a crucial aspect to address massification, access, and success in HE.

PURPOSE AND OUTCOMES

The purpose of this facilitated online workshop is to enable participants to effectively design online learning environments. This online workshop is designed for participants involved in online and mixed mode modules at higher education institutions. Participants will have real online students / learners who are taking modules in online and/or blended mode, and this is a good opportunity to initiate / improve participants’ online facilitation knowledge, skills, and behaviour. The online workshop is activity-based, so participants’ active participation is required in order to reflect on, practice, and model online facilitation.

At the end of this facilitated online workshop, participants should be able to:

  • Develop knowledge, skills and attitudes concerning online facilitation, with application in online components of formal courses and online collaboration projects;
  • Gain an awareness of and developed skills in the tool sets available to support online facilitation (e.g. Online discussions, blogs, podcasts and synchronous communication software);
  • Develop knowledge and skills in designing online activities using an appropriate combination of technologies in online components of formal courses and online collaboration projects.

EXPECTATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
