Dr. Jessica Pool, an expert in the scholarship of teaching and learning, has more than 10 years of experience in SoTL research. During this session, you will gain from her valuable expertise towards successfully engaging in a SoTL project of yours.

 

Purpose of the APD opportunity:

The purpose of this Webinar is to provide integrated knowledge on Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) by unpacking the purpose, aim, and methodology of SoTL.  Furthermore, participants will conceptualise a possible SoTL project.

 

Outcomes of the APD opportunity:

At the end of this face-to-face workshop, participants should be able to:

  • Understand SoTL in relation to teaching and learning and the NWU strategy;

  • Understand the difference between a scholarly approach to teaching and learning and scholarship of teaching and learning;

  • Understand the methodologies applicable for SoTL;

  • Explore SoTL in practice;

  • Conceptualise and/or develop a plan to advance SoTL in ways that fit the realities of their context, pedagogical interest, and career goals.

 

Expectations/ Requirements:

Participants would be able to gain sound and integrated knowledge on how to conceptualize a possible SoTL project.
