Why shouldn't I miss this!

A rubric creates a common framework and language for assessment, clarifying expectations for both students, lecturers and markers.  A rubric may be used to assess a variety of assignments such as lab reports, group work, research papers, online discussions, portfolios, oral presentations, and other assignments.

 

Purpose of the CPD opportunity:

Rubrics are beneficial for students and faculty since their use adds transparency to the grading process. This session explores the process of developing appropriate rubrics for grading student assignments.

 

Outcomes of the CPD opportunity:

In this session, you will be introduced to:

  • the benefits of using rubrics for assessing student assignments;
  • the main stages involved in developing a rubric;
  • criteria to evaluate the quality of rubrics;
  • best practices for grading various different types of assignments in eFundi.

 

Expectations/ Requirements:

This session requires approximately 90min of viewing presentations and engaging in online synchronous discussion.
