OLC - Getting Started with Hybrid-Flexible (HyFlex) Course Design - 19 - 25 September 2022 In-Person

Kindly note: Registrants will receive an email communicating the relevant information.

Why shouldn't I miss this!

  • A comprehensive overview of HyFlex learning, including strategic perspectives to decide if and when this approach is appropriate
  • Teaching strategies and examples of methods for both in-class and synchronous and asynchronous online students
  • Individualized HyFlex course design worksheets to begin designing your own HyFlex course

Purpose of the CPD opportunity:

Hybrid-Flexible (HyFlex) learning provides opportunities for students to participate in classes either as a fully online student, a classroom student or in any blend of participation modes. Students have the freedom and responsibility to choose an appropriate path for learning based on their situation – experience, learning progress, schedule, and other commitments. Faculty are challenged to provide an effective learning path online and, in the classroom, so that any choice of participation mode will lead to achieving learning outcomes. In this workshop, you will begin the process of designing your first HyFlex course.

Outcomes of the CPD opportunity:

  • Describe the characteristics, benefits, and challenges of HyFlex course designs;
  • Draft a high-level design plan for a HyFlex course, including learning outcomes, content, assessment, and engagement

Expectations/ Requirements:

This is an asynchronous, week-long workshop that will begin on a Monday and end on the following Sunday. An optional synchronous Q&A session is scheduled near the end of the workshop. The workshop will require approximately 6-8 hours of work, including reading research-based articles, viewing presentations, engaging in online discussion forums, and submitting assignments.

The total length of time to completion: 7 days.

The registrations will be on first-come, first-serve basis and will close on 15 September.

However, the workshop will start the week of 19 - 25 September.
